Why Most Sunscreens Make Oily Skin Worse
A lot of sunscreens - especially older formulations - are built around heavy emollients and occlusive ingredients that sit on top of the skin rather than absorbing into it. On dry skin, that's fine. On oily or acne-prone skin, it's a recipe for clogged pores, excess shine, and the kind of breakout that makes you swear off SPF entirely.

What to Actually Look For
Lightweight, fluid texture: Gel-based or fluid sunscreens absorb quickly and don't sit on the surface. If it feels heavy coming out of the bottle, it'll feel worse on your face at 2pm in April.
Non-comedogenic formula: This means it won't clog pores. Look for it on the label. Non-negotiable for acne-prone skin.
No alcohol as a primary ingredient: Some sunscreens use alcohol to create a matte finish. Short-term it works. Long-term it strips your skin barrier, triggers more oil production, and makes everything worse.
SPF 50 PA++++: High protection matters more in Indian summer than anywhere else. Don't compromise on the numbers just to find a lighter texture. You need both.
What to Avoid
Heavy creams. Anything with mineral oil high up in the ingredient list. Formulas that promise a 'dewy glow' - that's the last thing oily skin needs in June. And anything that leaves a white cast, because a white cast means the formula is sitting on your skin rather than absorbing into it.
The Refrigerator Trick
Store your sunscreen in the fridge during summer. A cold application feels significantly better on hot, oily skin and there's something about the ritual that makes you actually do it every morning. Small things, big compliance.
