Oily skin in Indian summer is a personality trait at this point

March through June in India is not just hot. It is aggressively, personally hot. The kind of hot where your foundation slides off your face before you leave the house, your nose is shining by 9am, and SPF becomes both a necessity and a burden.

If you have oily skin, summer is your final boss. Here's how to play it.

Rethink your routine for the season

What works in winter will not work in summer. A heavy moisturiser that felt luxurious in December will feel like a mistake by April. Summer skincare is about switching to lighter, more breathable formulas without abandoning hydration entirely.</p>

Cleanser: Switch to a gentle gel or foam cleanser if you haven't already. Not a harsh one - gentle still applies.

Moisturiser: Gel-based. Water-based. Lightweight. Look for hyaluronic acid.
Sunscreen: This is non-negotiable and we will keep saying it. Find one that doesn't feel heavy on your skin. Mattifying formulas exist for a reason.

Blotting papers are your summer best friend

They don't remove your skincare or SPF. They just absorb surface oil. Keep them in your bag. Use them without guilt.

Sheet masks in summer - yes, absolutely

The refrigerator is underutilised as a skincare tool. A cold sheet mask on a hot day is as close to a spa experience as most of us are getting. Coffee masks for oil control. Rice berry for brightening after sun exposure. It's a 15-minute cooldown with results.

What to skip

Heavy oils, thick creams, occlusive balms. Anything that sounds like it 'seals in moisture' is going to feel suffocating in peak summer. Save those for November.

👉 Keep your sheet masks in the fridge this summer. It's free, it works, and it makes the whole thing feel significantly less like effort.
